Southern line services restored, but delays and cancellations expected as Auckland trains return to schedule following incident. Photo / File
Train services are running again but Auckland rail commuters will likely be delayed this morning following an emergency services incident at Homai earlier.
Southern and eastern train lines had been running at reduced frequencies for over two hours during peak travel times this morning.
Emergency services were called to anincident at Wiri around 6am, a police spokesperson said in a statement.
Train services between Papakura and Papatoetoe were suspended around 6.50am and clearance was only given around 9am to reopen the line.
"Please expect some delays and cancellations as services return to schedule," Auckland Transport said on Twitter.

During the suspension, services between Papakura and Papatoetoe were suspended, with southern line trains only running between Manukau and Britomart running.
The trains ran approximately every 20 minutes.
Commuters were told on Twitter they would be able to catch bus route 33 or 365 between Papakura and Manukau.
Elsewhere, Campbell Rd in Greenlane between Massey Ave and Te Kawa Rd had been closed to westbound traffic following a crash.
The crash impacted power lines in the area and motorists were asked to allow for extra time as a westbound detour needed to be used.
