Temperatures across Auckland are much warmer this morning, after things got off to a chilly start at the beginning of the week.
MetService meteorologist Nick Zachar said Aucklanders were in for a great day today. "There might be a few cloudy periods - but plenty of sunshine today."
He said itwas also much warmer this morning, with temperatures sitting around 8C, an increase from yesterday's temperatures of around 3C to 4C.
"It looks like it's a little bit warmer. Auckland Airport got down to about 4C overnight, and Whenuapai got down to about 6C. It has slowly been rising.
"There's not too much wind at the moment either, so that will help as well."
Mr Zachar said it would be a good day for most of the country today.
"There is a nice high pressure over the entire South Island, and most of the North Island, with the exception of Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. They are having a few more showers there at the moment."
Unfortunately the good weather was not set to stick around for the weekend, Mr Zachar said.
"There is a front moving towards Fiordland late tonight and tomorrow morning, and that front will start approaching the western North Island and South Island on Friday and through the weekend. We are expecting some decent rainfall from Friday into Saturday."
