Auckland Southern Motorway crash cleared, delays continue in citybound lanes

Traffic queues were stretching more than 10km on Auckland’s Southern Motorway after a crash this morning.

The two-vehicle accident was reported to police at 5.54am, a spokesperson said.

Two citybound lanes were blocked between the Takanini and Hill Rd on-ramps while emergency services responded.

Early indications suggest there were injuries.

The crash has since been cleared, and all lanes have reopened, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said.

Motorists should expect delays or seek an alternative route, the spokesperson said earlier this morning.

NZTA advised motorists to merge left with care and expect delays.

“Please follow the directions of emergency services.”
