A police spokeswoman told the Herald a stolen vehicle was used and confirmed there were multiple offenders involved.
"The offenders have then fled the scene in a second stolen vehicle, which was found abandoned nearby," she said.
The shop's two front doors were badly damaged in the incident - with one of the doors being dented enough for those involved to duck inside.

It appears the premises was saved from more serious damage by four bollards erected immediately outside the mini mart.
Police are making inquiries into the incident; including reviewing CCTV footage.
