Auckland pedestrian seriously hurt in hit and run

A pedestrian has been seriously hurt after being hit by a car in the centre of Auckland.

The driver then fled the scene, police say.

The incident took place about 4.50am today.

Motorists are asked to avoid the intersection of Queen St and Customs St East.

Police have cordoned off the intersection as serious crash investigators examine the scene.
