A 52-year-old man has been charged over a West Auckland hit and run that left a person critically hurt early today.
Emergency teams were earlier called to Railside Ave in Henderson about 12.25am after the car that hit the person didn’t stop.
“The victim remains in hospital in a criticalcondition,” police said.
Police later revealed they have arrested and charged a man, while also seizing a car believed to have been involved.
The man has been charged with failing to stop and ascertain injury, careless driving causing injury, driving while forbidden, and failing to carry out obligations in relation to a computer search.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in Waitakere District Court on Monday.
Investigating police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the hit and run, who has not yet spoken to them.
That included “anyone who has CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist our inquiries”, police said.
