Auckland city centre stabbing: Teen arrested in Quay St after man critically hurt

A man has been critically hurt and a teenager arrested after a stabbing in Auckland’s city centre overnight.

The attack took place in a Quay St building about 1am, police said.

Emergency services rushed the critically hurt man to hospital, where he remained this morning.

“A 17-year-old male was arrested at the scene,” police said.

“He is due to appear in Auckland District Court this morning on a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.”

A scene examination has been carried out and police are still making inquiries into how the attack happened.
