At least 10 years jail for woman's murder

A man who admitted murdering a 55-year-old woman in Auckland earlier this year will spend at least 10 years in jail.

Joseph John Wayne Berry, 25, was sentenced in the High Court in Auckland today to life imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of 10 years.

He was sentenced after last month admitting the murder of Daisy Tetroi Toto.

Ms Toto's body was found semi-naked behind a toilet block at Murphy Park, in the south Auckland suburb of Otahuhu, just before 7am on February 12. She had head injuries and her trousers had been removed.
