A Rotorua man who admitted assaulting his son has walked free after a judge said he had already punished himself enough.
Judge Phillip Cooper in Rotorua District Court told Zebulon Tuilvu Colin Jennings, 31, that everything the court would have imposed, he was already doing himself, The Rotorua Post reported.
Jennings, who drove himself to the police station after physically punishing his 10-year-old son on July 18, had already referred himself to Family Focus for counselling and was receiving counselling with the pastor from his church, the court heard.
