From the Northwestern Motorway, the Auckland Harbour Bridge looks more or less like the outline of Rangitoto. Was the bridge built to resemble the island? Paul Richardson, West Auckland.

Not as far as I can ascertain. I think it's just serendipitous.

Do the electronic signs with estimated travel times before motorway onramps include time spent queuing to get on the motorway? Robyn Drake, Auckland.

The Transport Agency website says the signs, updated every 60 seconds, estimate time on the motorway, not the time it takes to achieve this.

Can you advise when and where earthworks start on the Puhoi-Warkworth motorway? What is the projected completion date for this first stage? Chris Davis, Puhoi.

This is problematic, because of funding and geography complicating a final route selection. Start time is scheduled for 2014, with completion in 2022. The cost is estimated at $1.65 billion for the 38km road. It's unclear at which end construction will begin.

On the first night of the Rugby Super 15 series we went to park our car in our usual spot in Lemington Rd, Mt Eden, to find that No Parking Zone B signs were up. We believed this facility was put in place specifically for the Rugby World Cup and would be taken down later. Can you confirm please what the actual status is? Sue Sawden, Auckland.

Parking restrictions around Eden Park, both Zone A and Zone B, will be in place for every major event for the foreseeable future. Permits for parking in these areas remain valid unless or until they are revoked by Auckland Transport, and don't need renewing each year.

A nearby school zone has a 40km/h limit. Is this always, only in term time, or only in school hours? The Land Transport Authority and the AA don't know. The police think it's "probably" all the time. Dick Coker, Green Bay.

Auckland Transport knows. Their website says school speed zones have a 40km/h limit on school days for a maximum period of 35 minutes before school starts and 20 minutes after it ends, beginning no more than five minutes before the school day ends. The limit also applies for 10 minutes at any other time when at least 50 children cross the road, or enter or leave vehicles at the roadside.
