ASB Classic rallies behind children's charity

The ASB Classic has proven to be a smash hit for fans and charity alike.

More than $15,000 is set to be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities as part of the tournament's ASB Rally for Charity.

Each time a rally at any match of the tournament reaches 10 consecutive hits ASB will start donating $10 to Ronald McDonald House for every successive shot.

As at Friday afternoon the total raised was $14.640, and was set to climb to more that $15,000 by the end of the event.

Out and about to catch the men's semi-finals were The Bachelor star Art Green, Silver Fern Kayla Cullen and Amber Peebles , who were among 50 guests enjoying a bespoke menu designed by Nic Watt at the Moet Ice Lunch at the Moet & Chandon Lounge.

Other celebrities checking out the action at Stanley Street during the tournament have been All Blacks Malakai Fekitoa, Julian and Ardie Savea, and Joseph Parker.

Champagne has proven popular with punters, as they have guzzled down 13,000 flutes of Moet & Chandon during the tournament, along with 40,000 bottles of Heineken.

Eight kilograms of Kapiti cheese has been served up, along with 5,400 glasses of Gibbston Valley Rose and 1661 gin cocktails.

Hungry tennis fans have tucked into 3,500 Wagyu beef burgers, 4,723 portions of duck fat chips, 2,500 pizzas, 400 rotisserie chickens, 1,554 portions of strawberries and cream, and 450 donuts.

Off-court entertainment has been provided by Kings, Boh Rungs, Lauhgton Kora, Tui, Isaac Aesili, and the Nathan Haines band.
