Greytown won the only Umpires Cup senior men's inter-club cricket match completed in Wairarapa on Saturday.
They scored a comfortable 31-run win over Lansdowne in a game played on the artificial surface at the Park Sportsground in Masterton.
Former Central Districts B player Mark Childs led the way as Greytown reached a
healthy 223 in their 40 overs. He was always severe on anything loose in making 62. Jimmy Logue (29) and Josh Doherty (20) also got amongst the runs.
Bowling for Lansdowne Doug Johnson finished with 4-45 and Willie Thomson 4-38.
Lansdowne were dismissed in the 38 th over for 192 with Jonathan Matthews top scoring with 61 and Choi Jackson making 23. Alan Ewington (2-43) and Fitzgerald (4-45) spearheaded the Greytown attack..
Damp pitches led to the abandonment of the other two Umpires Cup matches, Red Star v Rathkeale College and Bracewell Academy v Wairarapa College.
