Arson enquiry after gang house fire

An arson enquiry is underway in Gisborne after an attempt to burn down a gang house in the city last night.

It was the scene of a molotov cocktail attack last month for which no one has been arrested.

The Dalton St house caught fire just before 7pm last night with fire crews arriving just as the blaze was starting to get into the roof of the unoccupied home.

The fire took half an hour to bring under control and caused extensive damage to one room and the passageway while leaving the rest of the house extensively heat and smoked damaged.
