A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection to five fires at the Foxton Racecourse over the last month.
The man was arrested yesterday and charged with five counts of arson. He will appear in the Levin District Court later today.
Acting Detective Sergeant Marianne Whitfield said emergency services were called to a fire at the stable block of the racecourse about 1am yesterday.
Police and fire investigators examining the scene have confirmed that this latest fire was suspicious, she said.
The other four fires caused serious damage to one of the grandstands, two other stable blocks and minor damage to an implement shed.
"Although an arrest has been made we would still like anyone with any information about these fires to come contact us. Your information is still valuable to us," acting-Detective Sergeant Whitfield said.
