A man has been arrested after another man was allegedly stabbed in the remote East Cape.
Police and a rescue helicopter were called to Hicks Bay, on State Highway 35 between Opotiki and Gisborne, this morning.
A 58-year-old man was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital in a stable condition.
Police said
a 39-year-old man had been arrested in relation to the alleged stabbing.
They earlier said the alleged offender was believed to be known to the victim.
