Armed police called to road rage incident at Māngere Bridge

Armed police were seen swarming the area of Māngere Bridge after reports of a road-rage incident.

Police were called to reports that a firearm had been seen in the argument around 7.15pm on Thursday, a police spokeswoman said.

The armed offenders squad was called to the scene on Walmsley Rd as a precaution, she said. There were no reports of any injuries.

Locals reported on social media seeing around 10 police cars and armed officers in the area.

A person was arrested "without further incident" and officers were speaking to someone of interest, police said.

Police said this morning officers carried out a number of inquiries and found the vehicle allegedly involved in the incident at a house.

"Both the vehicle and address were searched and no firearm was located," a statement said.

"No further action will be taken at this time."
