Armed police called out near Napier

Armed police are responding to an incident at Tangoio, north of Napier.

It's understood a man has been heard calling for help and a gunshot was heard in a forest area off State Highway 2.

The police Armed Offenders Squad and dog handlers have been called in to join the search, and a helicopter is on standby.
