Armed police arrest man in Tauranga incident

A man with a knife was arrested this morning in relation to an "incident" in Tauranga.

Police have not said what the incident was and said they would not be commenting further.

Police stopped the man while he was driving over the Waihi Rd overbridge at 9.40am and arrested him as a result of an incident at a Brookfield address.

He was believed to be armed with a knife, police said.

"This man is currently helping police with their enquiries and no one else is being sought in relation to the incident," police said.
