Nikau trees and flax bushes surround the building.
In its application, the city council noted that there has been almost no vandalism at the site.
"Make no mistake, since it has been built, it has been a beautiful addition to what is a beautiful place renowned for surfing, sunbathing and
selfies."
Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board deputy chairman Jake McLellan was cagey on the chances of winning.
"I couldn't possibly say, but I'm hopeful. I'm not sure how many nominations they get, but there's a lot of toilets out there - it could be quite a competitive field."
The toilet award category is one of 17 offered by the Keep New Zealand Beautiful trust.
They include the best street, most beautiful suburb and most innovative packaging.
Nominations will be judged by a panel, with the winners announced at a gala dinner in Hastings on October 13.
