Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern sent Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a letter of congratulations - and a Christmas card - but no engagement gift.

A spokesperson for her office says it's not standard practice to send engagement gifts, as the exchange of gifts happens at the wedding itself.

Ardern sent the Christmas card to the royal couple, because she felt the letter of congrats for their engagement was a bit too formal.
