Police are still receiving calls from the public in relation to the death of Christchurch schoolgirl Marie Davis but want more witnesses to come forward.
Marie's body was found submerged in the Waimakariri River, north of Christchurch, last week. She disappeared from her suburban Papanui home almost threeweeks ago.
The 15-year-old Papanui High School student was last seen going into her home after being dropped off by a friend's mother about 6pm on Saturday April 5.
Her older sister, Amy, reported her missing about 8am the following day.
Inquiry head Detective Senior Sergeant Virginia Le Bas said police were still canvassing properties near the Waimakariri River and talking to people who were there on the morning of April 6.
She said police particularly wanted to speak to a man, described as being 60 to 70 years old, seen fishing from a deck chair with his dog that day.
"He was mentioned by several people and we wish to speak with him as a potential witness," she said.
"We are following up all information that will help us build up a detailed picture of what has happened to Marie."
Police are also interested in sightings of a light coloured four-door sedan seen speeding along the northern bank of the river on April 6.
At Marie's funeral on Wednesday, celebrant Neil Struthers said the search and the discovery of her body had touched almost every Christchurch family. He praised the "wonderful work of police" and said it was all too easy to knock the police when things weren't going right.
