Police are investigating an alleged indecent assault at a central Auckland pool.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Vanessa Pratt told the Herald the incident occurred about 3pm on Tuesday at Point Erin Pools in Herne Bay.
Two young people were approached by a man during the incident.
Authoritieswere alerted about the incident that evening.
It comes just days after the Herald reported a separate Auckland pool case, involving a man who pleaded guilty to 15 charges relating to filming hundreds of patrons in the changing room at a different pool in the central city.
“We are in the process of speaking further with the young people to understand what has occurred and supporting them through the process,” Pratt said.
“Inquiries are being made with staff working at the facility. Anyone who might have been at the pools on Tuesday and saw a man acting suspiciously should contact police.”
Pratt told the Herald that police could be contacted online on 105.police.govt.nz or by phone on 105, using the reference number 260120/3983.
Earlier this week, the Herald revealed that a Remuera man had admitted taking intimate visual recordings of hundreds of Newmarket swimming pool and gym users over several years.
Nearly 400 people were recorded by the man, but none of them were aware they were being targeted.
The Herald has confirmed that the offending occurred in the men’s changing room at The Olympic Pools & Fitness Centre on Broadway.
It’s understood the man filmed the victims using his cellphone. The 27 charges he initially faced related to offences that spanned six years from 2019 to 2025.

He pleaded guilty this week to an amended set of 15 charges of making and possessing illicit material.
His crimes were discovered one evening last year after a customer alerted pool staff to the man’s unusual behaviour.
The 46-year-old has interim name suppression and will be seeking permanent anonymity when he’s sentenced later this year.
He admitted 13 charges of making an intimate visual recording, one charge of possession and one charge of making an objectionable publication.
The charges he faces carry maximum prison terms of three years, one year and 14 years respectively.
