All Black lock Ali Williams has been cleared after he was cited for allegedly stomping on the head of an English player in last night's rugby test at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
England won 15-13.
A judicial committee, headed by Australian Michael Goodwin, met today to deal with the citing by
citing commissioner Michael Somes, of Australia, but did not find any proof.
Williams pleaded not guilty.
"The judicial committee determined that the contact with the English player's head was inadvertent and incidental to Williams' endeavour to ruck the football in a situation where access to it was impeded by the position of the English players in the ruck," a statement from the committee said today.
"In consequence, the judicial committee found that the offence was not proven and no further action was taken.
The judicial committee included New Zealand's Bruce Squire, QC and Mattie Blackburn, former NZRU board member.
