A man charged with murdering his 10-year-old brother has appeared in court today.
Eric Baden McIsaac, 25, appeared before Justice Brendon Brown in the High Court at Palmerston North on charges including burglary, possession of a knife and fourth suppressed charge.
It is alleged McIsaac killed Alex Fisher on October5 or 6. Alex's body was found in the sand dunes at Waitarere Beach after a three-day search.
Defence lawyer Letizea Ord told the court there would be no objection to all four charges being dealt with together. She also mentioned her client's intentions regarding the four charges, but these details were suppressed.
Justice Brown remanded McIsaac in custody until February next year.
Crown prosecutor Erin FitzHerbert suggested Simon Hewson remain as an amicus curae which Justice Brown said he would consider.
McIsaac stood throughout the short appearance with his arms folded and acknowledged family members in the public gallery by nodding his head a couple of times.
Alex was last seen on October 5 at 6.30pm at the Waitarere Beach Four Square with McIsaac.
