Save A Central Otago Pinot Noir has come out on top at a major international wine competition.
Akarua Winery's 2010 Pinot Noir has won the much sought after Red Wine of Show and Pinot Noir Trophy at the Five Nations Challenge in Sydney.
The Red Wine of Show award recognises the
2010 vintage as one of the best in the world.
Akarua Winery winemaker Matt Connell says 2010 was a good vintage for Central Otago without climatic extreme.
He says that the wines have beautiful balance and vibrancy while still retaining power and structure.
