Air NZ Christchurch to Hamilton flight turned around

A flight from Christchurch to Hamilton yesterday was turned around shortly after taking off because of an engineering issue.

Flight NZ5622 from Christchurch to Hamilton turned around mid-air and returned to Christchurch after about eight minutes in the air.

An Air New Zealand spokeswoman said engineers rectified the issue and the flight left Christchurch for Hamilton a short time after.

The flight was scheduled to leave Christchurch at 6.15pm, arriving in Hamilton at 8.48pm, but did not land until 8.48pm.
