Air New Zealand teamed up with Hunt for the Wilderpeople star Julian Dennison to "spring" several Kiwis with kindness this week.

A video posted on Air New Zealand's Facebook page shows the young Kiwi actor doing a range of kind gestures to mark the start of spring and Random Acts of Kindness Day, which is celebrated today.

The gestures included paying for people's meals at a restaurant, paying for people's ice creams on Auckland's waterfront, taking flowers and chocolates to people in a hospital and playing games with retirees at a rest home in New Plymouth.

In the video, Julian says: "I'm like Santa Claus but in spring".

Several people look at Julian with dismay after the gestures, to which he simply says, "you've got sprung".

At the end of the video, he challenges Kiwis to put a spring in someone else's step.
