Kiwi Steven Adams produced a spectacular performance to put his team into the last four of American basketball's biggest prize.
The 20-year-old from Rotorua is rapidly becoming a superstar in Oklahoma after a stellar rookie season - and he saved his best for the very best moment.
He set career highs in points scored and time on the court as the Oklahoma Thunder won the series clincher against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The triumph leaves Adams eight wins away from capping an amazing first season with an NBA title with only four teams remaining in a competition watched by millions around the globe.
It's a long way from his start as the youngest of 18 children who moved to Wellington at 13 as he drifted towards the wrong side of the tracks.
Fast-forward seven years and his combination of self-assuredness, lack of hubris and wry sense of humour is going down a treat with fans, the media and Adams' teammates.
A rookie who wasn't expected to play much, if at all, this season, Adams has outstripped all expectations by commanding a regular place in a team that is challenging for the NBA title.
"You're a hell of a person," superstar teammate Kevin Durant said while singling out Adams during an emotional acceptance speech when crowned the NBA's best player recently. "You're just such a fun, spirited person. Never change who you are, man."
