A woman has been taken to Lakes District Hospital with gunshot wounds after what is understood to be an accidental shooting in a residential subdivision in Queenstown this afternoon.

A police media spokeswoman said officersarrived on the scene a short time ago, however, it was understood the woman's injuries were not life threatening.
