Police will make one last sweep of the Rapahoe beach area tomorrow morning for anything that will help them identify the badly decomposed body that was found washed up on rocks at Rapahoe on Wednesday night.
A man walking along the beach came across a human foot, and police then found the rest of the body near the Rapahoe end of the Point Elizabeth Track.
Police area commander Inspector John Canning said a further search was scheduled for last night, but had to be called off after police were called to another search on the King Domain Track.
Mr Canning said the remains that were found on Wednesday were taken to Christchurch yesterday for a post-mortem examination.
"We have found 99 per cent of the body," he said.
Yesterday, Mr Canning said there was a "good chance" that it was the body of Kurt Green, 30, of Christchurch, who was last seen walking toward the Blaketown tiphead three weeks ago.
Mr Green's family has been advised of the find, however Mr Canning said it could take up to a week to complete the identification.
