A 5.6 magnitude earthquake has shaken Southland.
The quake struck 30km west of Te Anau at 2.55pm, according to GeoNet.
GeoNet reported the intensity as strong.
A fire service spokesman said it was a "good shake" but no reports of injuries or damage to building were reported.
There were reports of the quake being felt as widespread as Oamaru, Haast and Bluff.
