Fifty litres of diesel has spilled at Z Energy service station in Kumeu.
Northern fire communications shift manager Jarron Phillips said fire crews were applying absorbent to the spill and monitoring the situation.
The area had been blocked off to the public.
Mr Phillips said he believed the scene of the spill was not near the road.
