4.4 quake in Bay of Plenty

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake has struck near Matata on the Bay of Plenty this morning, GNS Science reported.

The quake struck 10km north of the town at a depth of 7km at 8.57am.

GNS Science said it was felt along the Bay of Plenty Coast from Tauranga to Whakatane.

The Fire Service said it had not received any reports of damage.
