Three men charged in relation to the alleged murder of Bill Maangi will go to trial later this year after they entered not guilty pleas in the High Court at Gisborne today.
Appearing via audiovisual link were two charged with murder and one with accessory to murder.
Whānau of Maangiand the defendants numbered close to 20 in the public gallery.
Prosecution and defence both consented to interim name suppression, which will continue until at least the case review hearing, set for June 4.
Justice Dale La Hood has set a three-week trial for September 27 of this year and ordered the three remanded in custody until then.
Maangi, 36, was found critically injured on the front lawn of the Forrester House accommodation complex after he was shot early on Monday, September 29. He died in Gisborne Hospital.
