Bidding for a day with heavyweight boxer David Tua reached $25,000 today.
Tua is offering to help around the home for a day in aid of research into breast cancer, a disease his mother successfully battled.
A bidder, named parodi, bid $25,000 today on the internet auction site Trade Me.
The previous bid was $1700.
People queried on the site whether the bid was legitimate. Auction organisers responded Trade Me was trying to contact the bidder, before parodi posted that it was a legitimate bid.
"This is a very worthy charity to support and if I was successful here; I am keen to fly David to Christchurch to tour some schools and meet children in some of the worst hit areas here! It will be ... great fun and a good day! :-)"
The bidding closes on August 7.
The exact prize would be finalised with the winning bidder, but could involve chores such as picking up children from school and doing the ironing.
All proceeds would go to the Breast Cancer Research Trust, which Tua said he was humbled to be able to help.
"Knowing that my own mum, who I love so much, is a survivor of this terrible illness, it gives me great joy that I can honour her and fellow sufferers by doing this small but meaningful deed," he said in a statement.
Tua, 38, is due to take on American Monte Barrett, 40, in a rematch in Auckland on August 13.
The pair fought out a controversial draw in New Jersey last year, when Tua was knocked down for the first time in his career.
