Police say the man who died in a motor accident at Waiuku this morning was an 18-year-old who was a passenger in the car.
The driver, also a teenager, is critically ill in Auckland hospital and another of the vehicle's occupants is listed as in a serious condition in the same
hospital.
A fourth occupant walked away unharmed after the car crashed over a bank and hit stock at Waiuku Rd, Glenbrook, south of Auckland.
Two cars were involved in the accident at 2.16am but the second car was undamaged and its occupants unhurt.
Pukekohe police said the car plunged 40 metres over a bank and hit stock before coming to a rest.
The road was closed for several hours as the police serious crash unit investigated the crash.
Police inquiries are continuing and the victim's identity is being with-held pending notification of next of kin.
