11 cars torched in two nights

Christchurch police are appealing for information after 11 cars were torched in the past two nights.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Fabish said five cars were set alight on Wednesday night and another six last night.

Mr Fabish said he believed the fires were linked.

"It is an extremely dangerous thing to do, both for the public and the person(s) lighting the fires.

"There is always the danger of explosion and surrounding buildings or vegetation catching alight," he said.

Anyone with information about the fires should contact New Brighton police, he said.
