Woman shot in Palmerston North, police appeal for information

An appeal for information has been issued by police after a woman was shot in Palmerston North.

Police were called to Tremaine Ave in Takaro around 7.30pm last Friday after reports of a firearm being discharged.

A woman was found in critical condition with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital, where she remained in a serious but stable condition, a statement said today.

A scene examination was conducted with a scene guard placed on the address overnight on Friday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Deegan said those involved were known to each other and there was no risk to the wider community.
