Sole attendant robbed at knife point

A male service station attendant has been left shaken after he was robbed at knife point.

The man was working at BP 2 go on Main Street in Palmerston North when a man came into the shop at approximately 9.20pm last night.

The male brandished the knife and demanded cash and cigarettes.

BP 2go Main Street owner Alistair Howie said the employee followed their safety procedures correctly and handed over the cash and smokes.

"He has loaded the cash into a pillowcase and left on foot. The male attendant was not injured but it's certainly shaken him up."

He said police were now combing through CCTV footage after completing a scene examination this morning.

The offender has been described as caucasian, approximately 180cm tall and of athletic build. He was wearing a camouflage jacket, black gloves and beanie.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was travelling in the area of BP Main Street between 8.30pm and 9.30pm last night, and may have seen a person fitting this description.
