Palmerston North Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at the Broadway Avenue Pizza Hutt on Monday night.
Two, possibly three, offenders have entered the store shortly before closing. One of the offenders was armed with a machete.
The offenders were disguised during the incident and one of them was wearinga hi-vis vest. They demanded money from two staff who were present. The offenders made off with a quantity of cash after remaining in the store for several minutes.
The offenders have fled in a dark coloured vehicle, described as a reasonably late model car. This vehicle had been parked in a nearby alleyway immediately prior to the robbery.
The offenders' have left at speed along Albert Street then headed east bound along Main Street towards the city boundary.
Police want to hear from any members of the public who saw any suspicious people or dark coloured vehicles in the area of Pizza Hutt (near the corner of Broadway Avenue and Albert Street) at around the time of the robbery.
The public are also encouraged to report any suspicious sightings of a dark coloured vehicle in the Awapuni and Kelvin Grove areas, particularly near Roberts Line.
