Organisers of a new health centre in the city say it will provide patients with increased support, faster treatment and extra on-site facilities.

Kauri Healthcare is due to open on August 15 and will combine three of the city's general practices (Kauri on Grey, Kauri on Albert, Kauri on Vivian).

The "highly professional" site has been described as a revolutionary centre.

It has been developed around a new philosophy towards health care, focusing on the kauri tree. The belief is that the tree has laid down its roots, and by nurturing the fertile environment, the organisation can grow into a strong and protective guardian.

In a recent statement, the group said their highest priority was providing patients with quality care uncompromised by the larger premises.

They have established their environment as "warm, welcoming and compassionate", while aiming to make each patient feel their care is absolute priority.

Under this same philosophy, the centre has also incorporated three pods (Kowhai, Rata, Rimu) to host their own team of GPs, registered nurses and health care assistants. A pharmacy will also be located onsite, to continue their efforts in providing seamless care.

Those behind the scenes believe these additional groups will benefit most from having extra support. They have established several branches of support services, including Acute Care, Minor Surgery, Quit Smoking Clinic and a Health of the Older persons team.

Their website states Kauri Healthcare is determined to provide a lifetime of well-being for patients and their families, allowing a continuation of care with their health professionalto enable patients to have best resources to support their health journey.
