Palmerston North fatal crash: 16-year-old Olivia Hintz named as ‘cherished’ victim

A 16-year-old girl has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash in Palmerston North in the early hours of Friday.

Olivia Grace Hintz has been described as “dearly adored” and “cherished” following her tragic death.

“Sadly, she unexpectedly passed away on Friday, 1 November 2024. Aged 16 years,” her obituary read.

The teenager was a “much-loved daughter”, “dearly adored sister”, “cherished granddaughter” and a “treasured cousin and niece” to her grieving family.

“She will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.”

Her funeral service will be held this weekend.

Olivia died after an incident where a car left the road and crashed into the brick garage of a house on John F Kennedy Dr.

She died at the scene and two others were injured in the crash, which happened at 1.50am.

The other two people were transported to the hospital, one in critical condition and another in serious condition.

“The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination, and inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the crash,” a police spokesperson said.
