Jets' ready to take revenge

The Canterbury Rams may have stolen a win from the Manawatu Jets on Saturday night, but the team in green is ready to avenge themselves this weekend.

The Jets played the Rams in Christchurch following Friday night's home game against the Waitakere Rangers.

Losing 94--117 to the Super City team, the Jets had no time to wallow before hitting the court again.

Head coach Darron Larsen was disappointed in his team's performance but said it was time to forget about their losses and show fans they wanted to win.

"We've had a good week at practice - tonight (Friday) is the first night we've had the whole team together but we can't keep using our lack of preparation as an excuse. We're getting there and we've had enough time now we can do very well."

The Jets upped their performance on Saturday, losing a tense game to the Rams in the final minute, 78 - 76.

This took the Jets' loss to five games but they've had some notable moments.

Forward Jeremiah Trueman has proven he is an asset on the court, putting up nine points and 16 rebounds in Saturday night's game. Nick Horvath also shone on the weekend, and Brook Ruscoe showed why he is an upcoming star scoring 16 points.

"Jordan Ngatai has also had his good patches," said Larsen. "He's getting his rhythm back and his shooting will come."

The team would spend this week figuring out how to be more "cohesive" on the court.

"We just need some guys to really step up - we have some good individuals but we all have to elevate our game and be better."
