It's a game numerous childhood memories are drawn from, sprawled out on the floor dishing out draw 4s to your friends.

But a new revelation has changed everything we thought we knew about this mighty game.

According to an enthusiast, we've been playing UNO wrong this whole time.

LaToya McCaskill Stallings was doing some heavy reading of the rules and discovered we've been using the draw 4 card incorrectly.

"So it's taken me 35 years on this earth to realise that I've been playing Uno wrong since I was a kid," wrote LaToya in a Facebook post, alongside a snap of the official rules.

"Did y'all know that you can only play the Draw 4 Wild card IF you have NO other cards that can be played? AND if you suspect that someone has illegally played this card, they have to show you their hand. AND if they in fact played the card illegally they must draw 4, but If not, the person who challenged the play must DRAW 6?

So it’s taken me 35 years on this earth to realize that I’ve been playing Uno wrong since I was a kid 😒. Did y’all know...

Her post has since gone viral with thousands of people losing their minds.

"OMG I had noooooo idea!" replied one woman on Facebook, "Mind officially blown!"

"What? I've been playing this wrong my whole life," wrote another.

Others did not react kindly to discovering they'd been illegally UNO-ing for years.

"Well damn I been playing wrong," commented another player, "but I'm not switching it up."
