Temp in Auckland.

Temp in Auckland.

The best of the weekend and beyond.

TEMP

See climate change through an artistic perspective. The Open Arts Day at Corban's Estate Arts Centre features open studios, music, performances, climate change workshops and action stations. Great for young environmentalists.

Today, 10am-4pm, Corban Estate Arts Centre, West Auckland. Free entry. See tempauckland.org.nz for more details.

Seek out some crafty treasures or scrumptious food at the Coatesville Market. Pitched as the friendliest market. We like the sound of that. Bring cash, the kids and even the dogs.

Tomorrow, 10am-2pm, Coatesville Settlers Hall, 4 Mahoenui Valley Rd, Coatesville.

FASHIONISTAS

Celebrate local designers by pulling out your vintage or current New Zealand designer clothes. Elliott St will host two catwalks as part of the Walk the Walk: a History of Fashion in the City event.

Today, 1pm and 2pm, Elliott St, Central Auckland. Free event. See nzfashionmuseum.org.nz for more.

COMPOSED

The incredible acoustics of St Matthew-in-the-City will be tested by two of New Zealand's emerging conductors, Elizabeth Lau and Timothy Carpenter. Enjoy classical music including Brahms and Tchaikovsky at this Bach Musica NZ event.

Tomorrow, 5pm, St Matthew-in-the-City. Adults $30, children $10.

PUPS AND POOCHES

Dog Day Afternoon at Silo Park includes a ball pit, ball launcher and dog agility course. Humans, you are not forgotten, with the final Sunday session running into the evening with great tunes and street food.

Tomorrow, noon-8pm, Silo Park, Wynyard Quarter, Auckland. Free event.

MUSTER

Looking for something quirky? Head to Te Kuiti for the Great New Zealand Muster. Expect stalls, street theatre, buskers, bands and, of course, sheep mustering. Yee-haa.

Today, 10am-4pm, Te Kuiti, Waikato.

SCIENCE STREET FAIR

Motat's annual science fair has all the tricks to make science fun for children. Expect volcanoes, chemistry magic show and lasers. Celebrity scientist Nano Girl, Michelle Dickinson, will be there too.

Tomorrow, 10am-4pm, Motat, 805 Great North Rd, Western Springs. Entry adults $16, children $8, under-5s free.

TUESDAY: FREE ICECREAM

Ben and Jerry's is celebrating turning a year older by giving away chunk-a-licious icecream. It's obviously a good promo for Ben and Jerry's, but hey, we like free treats.

April 4, noon-8pm, Ponsonby Scoop Shop, 160 Ponsonby Rd, and Takapuna Scoop Truck, Channel View Rd, Auckland.

TUESDAY: STAND-UP SCIENCE

Live music, comedians and science exploration combine for Cosmic Shambles Live. It's an unusual combo but the show proved a hit in Britain. Indie-pop group Lawrence Arabia have been announced on the Auckland line-up. We're curious.

April 4, 7pm, ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre, Auckland. Tickets $70-$105.

NEXT WEEK: WAKA FESTIVAL

The Bay of Islands is launching its first Waka Festival. Watch both waka ama and traditional waka paddlers. This is such an impressive sport to watch.

April 8 and 9, Te Tii Bay Beach, Waitangi, Bay of Islands.

NEXT WEEK: ISLAND PARTY

Waiheke Island will be tapping with the sound of jazz over Easter. The Waiheke International Jazz Festival includes 170 artists. We would love to see Melbourne soul group The Cactus Channel, Miko Wada and Kiwi icons Hopetoun Brown live.

April 14-17, venues across Waiheke Island.

THIS MONTH: SCHOOL HOLIDAY PICK

Can you believe it's almost school holiday time? The best-selling book 13-Storey Treehouse has been transformed into an imaginative adventure show. Most importantly it should keep the kids happy for an hour.

April 18-22, Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna. Adults $40, children $30, family $120.

NEXT MONTH: SWAN LAKE

Moscow Ballet La Classique brings the drama of the tragic romance, Swan Lake. There will be performances across the country. The Moscow Ballet sold out last time so you may need to book early.
