It's 2019 and we've certainly moved on from many a traditional dating practice. When it comes to dining out, these days it's perfectly acceptable, and often expected, that a duo will simply split the bill.
In days gone by, this wouldn't have been considered so appropriate, but it seems somepeople are stuck in the past, as one poor man recently found out.
Taking to Reddit, the man shared screenshots of the shocking text messages he received after a dinner date with a woman.
Obviously deeming their first encounter a success, he asked if she was keen for another catch up. But she responded with an outrageous string of texts calling him "rude" for not paying for her.

What she was ignoring was the fact her lobster and wine cost a whopping $187, while he'd paid a reasonable $30 for a carbonara and beer.
Baffled by the accusation, the man responded: "You invited me. You are lucky you didn't pay for my food too."
He reminded her he's "a student not your sugar daddy."
Thanks to her traditional expectations, it seems this didn't register. She responded: "I'm never going out with you ever again, if you can't pay for a girl's food then why accept the invite.
"Gentlemen ALWAYS pay for girls' food," she added.
In an attempt to defend himself, the man pointed out how she had flirted with another man during her date.
Ignoring his accusation and doing herself no favours, she told him: "All you wanted anyway is to have sex with me anyway bye loser."
After realising she was being serious, he ended the conversation with a great comeback. Photo / Reddit
Unsurprisingly, Reddit users were astonished.
One user commented: "If someone invites me out then I go because I want to see that person and would never expect a free meal. That would be selfish and entitled."
Another said: "I'm a girl and I always go into the mindset that I pay for my drinks/food with anyone. Guy or girl.
