Woman makes her friends bid to get a place in her bridal party

It's natural for any bride to feel stressed in the run up to their big day but walking down the aisle can often turn women into demanding bridezillas.

And one lady, thought to be from the US, believes her sister is the biggest bridezilla of them all - after revealing she made her friends bid in an auction to secure a spot in her bridal party.

Writing on Reddit, the 33-year-old dubbed her sister "self-absorbed" as she revealed the bride-to-be was holding an auction for her potential bridesmaids to compete in for a place in her wedding.

According to the Daily Mail, the sister explained that whoever splurged the most would be crowned maid of honour - and the bride would use the total proceeds to fund her wedding and honeymoon.

The sister went on to explain that the ladies taking part in the auction aren't even close friends with the 22-year-old bride and she added that the man she is marrying is "rich" so they aren't lacking in funds.

She also revealed that her own mother called her selfish and said she would "look bad" if she didn't bid in the auction.

"I just find this really awkward and tacky. She's basically having people pay to be in her wedding. It's totally nonsensical," added the sister.

The woman's post received hundreds of responses from shocked people online, who dubbed her sister "selfish" and "a nutter".

"In my opinion her sister is highly manipulative," wrote one. "The nutters are those willing to actually pay to be in her wedding party. Why would anyone do this? I can't wrap my brain around it."

One user said the whole affair was "absurd and trashy" and others said they were struggling to get their heads around it.

The post has amassed 500 comments from shocked Reddit users.
