A 44-year-old mother of two adult children, who believed she had finished her family, has been shocked to not only find out she was pregnant, but give birth that very same day.
Beth Clay took herself to hospital after she began experiencing excruciating abdominal pain. Previously in good health shesuspected she had kidney stones as the pain was so bad.
It had been years since she had been in labour so the mum-of-three never suspected for a minute she was in fact in active labour and just about to give birth to a little boy.
Beth had recently lost weight
Beth and her husband Scott, 51, from California, told KTLA that they had no idea she was pregnant. In fact Beth says she kept up an active lifestyle and had been on a strict diet that helped her lose several kilos.
Scott says the couple were baffled by the surprise pregnancy.
"I was like, 'That just can't be real'. It's all contrived, never could happen. You would know if there was a baby in your belly, but we're living proof."
But Beth said doctors have a theory as to why she never knew she was pregnant.

"The doctor feels sure that he was behind everything, behind my kidneys behind my liver," she said. "I was in tiptop shape."
The Clays already have two adult children, 20-year-old Will and 27-year-old Maggie, but are thrilled to welcome little Liam, after they got over the initial shock.
"We waited a whole day before we told any of our family," Beth said. "Just so we could absorb what was actually happening, it's huge."
