A new poll has found the Duke of Sussex is the most popular royal with the British public.

Around 77 per cent of Britons have a positive opinion of Prince Harry, who is currently expecting his first child with his wife the Duchess of Sussex.

The duke, who is sixth in line to the throne, is followed by the Queen who is in second place with 74 per cent, and the Duke of Cambridge, who is third with 73 per cent.

Harry is described by his fans as admirable, likeable, humorous, fun-loving and genuine, the YouGov survey said.

Future king the Prince of Wales, who celebrates his 70th birthday this week, is in seventh position in the ranking of royals.

Less than half of the nation - 48 per cent - have a positive opinion of the heir to the throne.

Charles is behind his daughters-in-law and his father.

The Duchess of Cambridge is fourth with 64 per cent, the retired Duke of Edinburgh is fifth with 56 per cent and US actress-turned-newbie royal Meghan is in sixth place with 55 per cent.

The Duchess of Cornwall is in 10th place with 29 per cent of people having a positive opinion of Camilla, ahead of the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and also the Duke of York, who was 15th with 22 per cent.

Only 7 per cent of those quizzed had a negative opinion of Harry and 13 per cent had a neutral one, while 20 per cent had a negative view of Charles and 30 per cent per cent had a neutral opinion.

But 36 per cent had a negative opinion of Camilla - and she shared joint first place in this ranking with the Duke of York.

William is even more famous than his grandmother - the nation's longest reigning monarch - with 99 per cent of those quizzed having heard of William, compared to 98 per cent for the Queen.
