A city in winter can be a lovely thing. Find your hardy all-weather self, get out the scarf and gloves and make the most of it this weekend.
Aotea Square Ice Rink It may not quite be the village pond frozen over for the season, but after three years the Aotea Square Ice Rink is kind of our tradition. Hunt out your cheesiest reindeer sweater and pom-pom beanie and head down to the rink. This year there's a35 metre long ice slide to add to the thrills, plus a kids' starter rink, fun amusement rides and skate lessons. Like a real, winter only cooler.
Details: Until July 20, noon-10pm weekdays, 10am-10pm school holidays and weekends. Aotea Square. Entry: $15-20. Website.
